Is it appropriate to have the wedding ceremony at 11 a.m., with the reception starting around 6 p.m., and nothing between the two? Separating the ceremony from the reception is one of those plans that is either delightful or disastrous, depending on how you manage it. The results are more likely to be disastrous, which is why very few couples do it! But there's no absolute etiquette rule saying that you must have your reception follow your ceremony.
I want to have a non-religious wedding ceremony and do not know how to begin. All the weddings I have attended have been religious.
There's nothing like having too much freedom, is there? You can do almost anything you like with a non-religious ceremony, so it definitely can be hard to know where to start!

Nowadays, personalized vows are probably heard more often than the old familiar "for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse" (which is actually the Episcopal vow, and not universal).
